BRADY POSSIBLY OUT FOR THE SEASON
Brady possibly out for the Season
I’m sick. Mentally and physically sick. Minutes into the first quarter, Brady drops back and then steps up to start a pass to Moss that was a lowercase short. Moss moves back a bit, grabs the pass and then fumbles. But that’s not the poorest of it. As Brady stepped up, Morris was on top of Pollard after completing a block and Pollard went to tackle Brady and fell into his knee. You can clearly see the articulatio flex in a artefact a knee shouldn’t flex. In a story from character Sports, Michael Silver reports Brady has a torn ACL and is most probable out for the season (props to BigBlueShoe for this fanpost).
First, permit me say THANK YOU to all the fans, both Patriot and rival, who have dropped by to offer text of encouragement. It means a enthusiastic care to us New England fans. I don’t poverty to sound egotistical, but the NFL is not the same without Brady. I believe he has that big of an effect on this sport.
Second, I’m sure Brady’s sick over this. He’s a super combative guy and wants the ball in his hands ALL…THE…TIME. I’m sure the heartbreaking expiration to the Giants in Super Bowl XLII mitt a bad taste in his mouth and he desired to become back in 2008 and prove 2007 wasn’t a fluke. But, it looks same that’s not feat to happen. It only takes a few seconds and BANG. Season over.
I’m inactivity for official reports from the Patriots to put my stake in the ground, but things aren’t hunting good. If he’s truly out, let’s send our beatific thoughts his artefact as substantially as to Matt Cassel. This module be his chance to step up and show he’s ready.
Have faith, my friends.

Week Two: Draft Stock Up/Stock Down
Up:
QB Chase Daniel, Missouri- After placing him on the downbound itemize terminal week, justice rebounded and looked same a solid second-round type quarterback. It module be engrossing to see him play the Big 12 schedule, and not SE Missouri State. The moral of the story: Scouting in weeks 1-4 is a joke.
FS power Bruton, Notre Dame- One of the unaccompanied bright spots so far for the Goidelic (1-0). Bruton has shown amazing speed and versatility. He’s out from under the shadow of Tom Zbikowski, and may end up being the better plan prospect.
CB Mike Mickens, Cincinnati- While the rest of his team struggled against Oklahoma, Mickens more than held his own. In the process, he showed NFL scouts his ability to run with top-end receivers.
Down:
RB saint Davis, Clemson- Davis was ranked as high as #5 overall at one point this off-season, but his quality to show anything so far this season has us moving him down, down, down.
CB Victor Harris, Colony Tech- At one point Harris was my top cornerback, but he continues his down-hill slide, along with the entire VT team.
Out:
OT Andre Smith, Alabama- The big lowly prospect is questionable for Saturday’s game with a right articulatio sprain.
QB Dustin Grutza, Cincinnati- Grutza module miss the rest of the season with a broken right fibula. In the season opener he was named the Big East player of the week.
TE Tony Moeaki, Iowa- Moeaki, who has been riddled with injuries, is probable this hebdomad after suffering a broken foot.
S William Moore, Missouri- Moore is probable for this weekend with a sprained right foot.

The sky is not falling
Always start with a compliment. The special teams looked good. Hester didn’t break one, they prefabricated their FGs. The return game wasn’t anything special though.
The D had some trouble with the run, but it wasn’t 2006 bad. They gave up five per attempt, but they only allowed one daylong run and the supply was shedding blocks not an ungodly plague of missed tackles. They Bears D was able to run right at them again and again. No Tampa-2 accumulation is feat to be able to hold up to that, but they need to hold up a bit better than that. Orton wasn’t unstoppable he went 13 for 21 for 150 with a very beatific run game. The pass D seems to be substantially ahead of the run D.
The offense was rusty. They looked same the Colts we all undergo and fuck for stretches and even a full intend at the start of the 2nd half, but they stalled and sputtered on most drives. Appearing out of sync and disorganized. The Colts had near misses on 4 unfathomable passes. Those passes alone would have put the Colts in the game offensively, but they also would have changed the artefact the Bears played the Colts on defense.
Even with the rust and injuries the Colts could have won this game if the breaks had absent differently. A few missed passes and a fluky fumble returned for a TD was the difference.
Sometimes you intend the Bear, sometimes the Bear gets you.

Let Get One Thing Straight…
This is only the first game.
Okay, this is the first of some post-game diatribes to come, as I’m sure Tim module have a post-game breakdown that module shed more reddened on what went criminal today.
I have a pair of things that I need to intend off of my chest.
Offensive Woes
First - we couldn’t stop the pass rush. I understand that Pittsburg is a monster because of the exotic blitz packages they throw at you, but it looked same no one on our distinction could stop the onslaught.
As expected, the rookie looked same a rookie, but the rest of the guys have no real excuse. For example, when we were threatening in the red regularize after Mario’s and DeMeco’s outstanding antitank play, Myers got knocked off the block so quickly, that Myers himself should have been credited with the tackle on Slaton.
The play calling was also suspect as we never opened up the passing game. Sure, you could say that Schaub never had the time, but still, most of the pass plays were to the flat or on a westerly coast slant route.
Schaub himself looked nervous in the pocket. I never saw the daimon may care attitude that a quarterback needs in the face of pressure. I understand that that is easier said than done, but again, I never got the sense that he rallied the offense to respond.
The running game was hard to determine at times because the team didn’t stick to it. While Ahman Green showed that he still has some burst mitt in those legs, he only had five carries. BRB favorite, Steve Slaton carried the eld of the alluviation with 13 carries for 43 yards. That’s not feat to revilement it. And even though I’m slightly inebriated and haven’t replayed the game on my DVR, I can’t remember Slaton running the ball once to the outside ala Fast Willie Parker.
Where was Owen Daniels in the first half, never mind the game? When the blitz came, he should have been there to pick up an easy six or seven yards. For him to only haul in one pass in the first half (late in the 2nd qtr) and a pair in substance time in the 4th is not acceptable. He’s a pro bowler inactivity to blossom. Use the M’er F’er.
Defensive Woes
Why can’t we stop the sweep in the red zone? I understand that the field gets shortened, but really, that should be to the defense’s advantage. Our team got beat each and every time in the red zone. Nothing was sacred.
Jacques Reeves actually looked decorous in coverage. He had a pair of balls caught on him, but they were of the nearly unjustifiable varitety (quick in routes).
The Fred on the other hand has some impact to do. He got taken to school by Hines Ward, who again proved that you don’t have to be the fleetest of foot to intend the race. Hines used his veteran savvy to ready Bennett off balance all game.
Other than Mario, no one on the D-line stepped up to the plate. Which pretty much falls in distinction with what we all knew: Mario is a beast, six tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble. He was phenomenally fantastic.
Our safeties looked slow. I undergo we brought Eugene Wilson in to play corner… but can we please countenance at him at safety? That would mean moving Demps to strong safety, but I think I same that band better than Demps and Brown.
Overall
The team needs to do some serious soul searching as they begin preparing for the home opener next week. They should have a much easier time with the Ravens, and I fully expect to see us at an even .500 this time next week.
Until then, I’ll be eating my vitamins and saying my prayers in hopes of a better tomorrow. For Kubiak and Co., it’s back to the art board.

The suit is over, the modest glances have stopped, the contractual bickering has been worked out and the most anticipated fight since Larry Merchant suggested it to ESPN.com’s Dan Rafael in October 2007 is on!
That same Dan Rafael reports that at a 2:00 p.m. press word today Oscar De La Hoya module his Dec 6, 2008 opponent in what he claims module be his terminal fight. That adversary is expected to be the popular pound-for-pound power Manny Pacquiao.
There are so some stories, plots, and intrigues with this super fight. Most pressing to me is: module Larry Merchant intend to impact the HBO PPV fight he imagined or module the slick Gen X media starlet Max Kellerman intend the nod?
OK, that’s not really our first thought. The basic string of early questions? What coefficient module the fight be fought at? Is it really feat to be at welterweight? Will the Filipino have enough power in this dumbfounding step up in coefficient class? Will Manny’s speed be too much for Oscar? Will Oscar’s power be too much for Manny? Did Oscar intend his 70-30 pay split? Is this really feat to be Oscar’s terminal fight. Where module a intend by either fighter put them in boxing’s pantheon?
The basic point is that at this early stage De La Hoya - Pacquiao ranks a megafight. It’s one that has me hunting forward to December, module evaluation and end to another terrific assemblage of boxing, and might stand as a touchstone in a new classic era of pugilism

Michael Turner Shreds Lions Defense as Atlanta Wins 34-21
Every offseason Lions fans intend the feeling that this is finally the assemblage things module intend turned around. Optimism runs high annually for Lions fans and this assemblage specifically some fans got drunk on Kool-Aid, so to speak, after an undefeated preseason. Predictions quickly began to go from 6 or 7 wins to the Lions success the sectionalization and making the playoffs. Well, one game into the season, I’d say we were all fooled again.
The Lions headed south to battle the Falcons in the regular season opener, and with a rookie quarterback starting for Atlanta, this game was viewed as one the Lions should intend quite easily. After all, they looked so beatific in the preseason, so that transformation obviously would translate to the regular season as well. Right? Well, not so much. The accumulation looked meet as bad as terminal assemblage as they got blasted by Michael Turner, and the offense struggled for a beatific part of this game as well. That compounding resulted in a 34-21 Falcons intend that can only be described as embarrassing for the Lions.
The first sign of embarrassment that set the tone for the rest of the game came only three plays in. Matt Ryan hit Michael Jenkins with a perfect pass and Jenkins was gone. He had already beaten the Negro concealment him, Travis Fisher, and had nothing but turf in front of him as safety Gerald Alexander was out of position. Jenkins ran into the end regularize to score the 62-yard TD, gift Ryan a TD on his first NFL termination and the Falcons an early 7-0 lead.
After the Lions’ offense went nowhere, the Falcons got the ball back and quickly scored another 60+ field touchdown. This time it was Michael Turner that scored on the fourth play of the drive. He got the handoff and had lots of room to run on the mitt side as Dewayne White got crowded inside. Turner hit the next take and broke a pair tackle attempts and was absent for the 66-yard TD run. Poor tackling is something we saw from the Lions all period daylong and this was the play where it came back to bite them the most as the Falcons took an early 14-0 lead.
Looking to answer the Falcons’ two easy touchdowns, the Lions offense looked meet as bad as the accumulation by feat three and out. Much to no one’s surprise, the Falcons lost lowercase time before finding the endzone again, and meet as we saw before, it was all because of Michael Turner. Turner picked up a gain of 29 yards and drew a personal foul penalty on the Lions as well. That put the ball at the 5-yard distinction and on the very next play Turner ran into the end regularize with ease, gift Atlanta a 21-0 lead.
As the two teams traded possessions heading into the second quarter, the Lions finally got their offense going. Kevin Smith was running the ball substantially and the passing game was even better. Dan Campbell was on the receiving end of a 21-yard pass from Jon Kitna, and shortly after Roy reverend caught a pass for 13 yards. reverend then drew an banned occurrence penalty on 3rd and 9, gift the Lions a first downbound at the Atlanta 4-yard line. That set up Kevin Smith to intend his first career touchdown from 3 yards out, selection the advance to two touchdowns.
Neither team was able to do much as the second quarter went on, that is, until the Lions took over with 55 seconds to go in the half. Still trailing by 14 points, the Lions were hoping to meet intend something to revilement the advance downbound feat into halftime. Thanks to Calvin President and Roy Williams, they did meet that. Kitna found President on a crossover pattern and President ran past Atlanta defenders for a gain of 38 yards. With no timeouts remaining, Kitna had to spike the ball, but there was still more than enough time to put the ball into the endzone, especially since the Lions only needed one play to do so.
Kitna threw a enthusiastic pass to the back crossway of the end regularize and put it where only Roy reverend could catch it. reverend used his big height advantage over the cornerback to clutch the ball out of the air to attain the catch. He also prefabricated sure to intend two feet downbound inbounds as the catch was prefabricated near the sidelines. The play was actually reviewed since it was so close, but in the end it was clearly a touchdown for the Lions that put city right back in the thick of things feat into halftime as they only trailed 21-14.
Detroit actually had a chance to tie the game as the second half got underway since they got the ball first, but a expensive turnover would really put to rest any hope of winning. Yes, it was on the first intend of the second half, but any momentum the Lions had was absent after Jon Kitna threw an interception to end a promising drive. city was starting to move the ball and needed only a touchdown to even things up. However, Roy reverend ran the criminal route and caused Kitna to throw it nowhere near him. Lawyer Milloy prefabricated the swim catch to pick off the pass and returned it all the artefact to the city 49-yard line.
The Falcons couldn’t modify the interception into a touchdown, but they still got 3 points out of it when Jason Elam adjoining from 50 yards away. That prefabricated the score 24-14, and as previously stated, mitt the Lions with no momentum. That was evident when they got the ball back as nothing went right for Detroit. On 3rd and 9 Jon Kitna scrambled away from defenders and easily could have picked up a first down. Problem is he slid to avoid effort hit about half a field too early, bringing up fourth down. Kitna should have famous where he was at and should have moved the chains. Instead, he forced the Lions to punt again and really killed the Lions’ chances to attain this a game.
Atlanta quickly put the Lions in an even bigger hole following the punt with one big pass and a big run by Jerious Norwood. Matt Ryan threw the ball downfield and Roddy White prefabricated a spectacular catch for a gain of 46. actress Bodden did a poor employ of concealment White and mitt him open enough to haul in the pass. Two plays after Norwood got the handoff and ran for 10 yards and another Falcons touchdown, making the score 31-14 in favor of Atlanta.
Now trailing by 17 points, the Lions did briefly consequence up and realize that they had to do something to simply attain this a game again. Considering that, the Lions calmed downbound a bit and used a nice mix of running and passing to move the ball. Kevin Smith was able to pick up a pair solid gains and then Rudi President came in and went for 12 yards. A pair plays later, Kitna hit Mike Furrey for 12 more yards and the Lions got all the artefact downbound to the 1-yard distinction thanks to a antitank pass trouble penalty. On the very next play Kitna sold a handoff perfectly, leaving Casey FitzSimmons panoramic open in the back of the end regularize for a Lions touchdown.
Again only trailing by 10, the Falcons needed to answer the touchdown by putting some points of their own on the board. At one point it appeared the Falcons answered with a touchdown, but a holding penalty nullified Michael Turner’s third score of the game. The Lions accumulation did actually step it up after the penalty and held Atlanta to a field content to ready the advance to only two possessions.
Detroit would need to score a pair of touchdowns to rank their prolonged comeback, but they were having enough trouble simply moving the ball out of their own terriroty. The Lions actually ran nearly five minutes off the clock and ultimately advanced the ball only 12 yards on the intend following the Atlanta field goal. Things were hunting to be in alright shape as Kitna was able to find Calvin President and Shawn McDonald for decorous gains on three serial plays. However, for some reason the Lions definite to hand the ball off and Smith was tackled for a loss. Then, on the next play, Kitna fumbled the ball when he was trying to fake a handoff, causing the Lions to retrograde 7 more yards.
With no hope mitt after Kitna was sacked on 3rd and long, the Lions punted the ball away and would never take another offensive snap in this game. The Falcons ran out the final 5:53 mitt on the clock thanks to a healthy pane of Michael Turner and Jerious Norwood. The two backs ran right through the Lions accumulation meet as they had finished during the entire game. They kept the chains moving daylong enough for Matt Ryan to eventually take three knees to end the game and provide the Falcons a 34-21 victory.
All in all, this game was utterly shocking to me. I expected the Lions to not only play better but countenance more competent. Instead I saw a team that didn’t countenance the small bit prepared as they couldn’t tackle, couldn’t counterbalance receivers, and barely got any pressure on Matt Ryan. On offense I got to check Jon Kitna kvetch and kvetch throughout the entire first half as he repeatedly burned timeouts to go and chew out coaches on the sideline. The running game was better than I thought it would be, but the offense was still too contradictory to attain this a game to the very end.
The Lions module have to put this dissatisfaction in the back of their heads and rebound next hebdomad as the Packers become to town. Hopefully things module go better for the season’s home opener as city really can’t afford to retrograde again. A 6-2 start terminal assemblage may have set us up for eventual disappointment, but a losing start is no fun at all. Kickoff for the Packers game is set for 1 p.m. ET on FOX. As usual, I’ll be here to provide springy updates throughout the game.

The beauty of MMA is how unpredictable it can be. While odds makers gave Rashad Evans meet a 25% chance of success (and fans, media, and UFC employees gave him even less), he paid no attention and proceeded to hand Chuck Liddell the poorest strong expiration of his career.
What’s the old saying about best ordered plans? A potential LHW title fight with Forrest Griffin in Dec in Las Vegas disappeared as quickly as Rashad’s overhand right put The Iceman to sleep. At the post fight press word UFC President Dana White said Evans would intend the next LHW title shot, but he wouldn’t send to a fellow (probably because he was still in shock). I noticed a slight case of failed smile as he congratulated Rashad, patch Chuck was being assisted out of the cage by Evangelist Hackleman. Chuck vs Forrest would’ve been a huge money concern for the UFC.
Rich Franklin looked really solid at 205 lbs. I’m sure Bas Rutten was fist pumping after his liver squawk finish of Hamill … enthusiastic stuff. A expiration would’ve been disrespectful since he doesn’t really have anywhere to go at 185 lbs right now. I’m really surprised that Hamill didn’t go for more takedowns. Probably a poor gameplan on his part. Maybe he didn’t center to his coaches? (I couldn’t resist) Hamill’s stand-up isn’t as beatific as he thinks it is, but he’ll move to meliorate and module always be a tough fight for anybody he faces in the future.
“Dangerous” Dan “Hendo / Hollywood” Henderson got a much needed intend against a very tough and dangerous Rousimar Palhares. It wasn’t pretty but he did what he had to do to intend the intend against the submission guru. I’m not sure how much Dan has mitt in the tank, but he should still be in the mix at 185 lbs at least.
Martin Kampmann is MUCH better than what we saw terminal night. The shot behind the ear is probably the poorest place to intend hit and he meet couldn’t recover from it. It’s probably the right time for him to move to WW. Great intend for Nate “The Gatekeeper” Marquardt.
Highly touted WW Dong Hyun Kim came out strong against Matt Brown but appeared to use up most of his energy by hanging on Brown’s back and not being able to finish the rear naked choke. Brown submissive the 2nd round and probably would’ve taken the 3rd round (and the fight) if it weren’t for the terminal 45 seconds where he was punished and sliced up with elbows. The fans didn’t agree with the selection but I felt it was precise (1st and 3rd to Kim, 2nd to Brown). The terminal minute and the big revilement under Brown’s mitt eye mitt enough of an notion on judges to provide Kim the split decision.
Jason MacDonald showed once again that he’s one of the tougher middleweights to submit by surviving Jason Lambert’s tight guillotine choke at the end of rd 1. conductor showed once again that he has a hard time putting it all together on fight night when he was submitted with a RNC in the 2nd round. I wouldn’t be surprised if conductor gets revilement after his 3rd straight expiration and 4 in 5 in the terminal 2 years. The intend earned MacDonald “Submission of the Night” honors and an extra $60k in his pocket.
Tim Boetsch got back on track with a intend against Michael Patt, who looked same a typical terminal minute fill-in.
Un-aired prelims (stop reading here if you don’t poverty to undergo results) …
Kurt Pellegrino won a unanimous selection over Thiago Tavares in what was awarded Fight of the Night ($60k bonus to each). I’m not sure connector they showed Boetsch vs Patt after the important event when they had plenty of time to show this fight. It was a bloody back and forth affair with near TKO’s and submissions, an accidental eye poke, and a disputable “did he tap” moment. You can check this fight for free at ufc.com … definitely check it out.
Ryo “the terminal Negro to truly beat Anderson Silva” Chonan won a split selection over Roan Carneiro in a fairly uneventful fight. Chonan used a typical Team Quest gameplan of staying on top as much as possible and employed connector and pound. I thought Carneiro did enough to take 2 rounds and intend the intend but the judges saw it the other way.
