Yes, it’s true. The starting quarterback for NBC’s team (Notre Dame - if you didn’t already know) was caught on camera at some “beer-drinking Olympics.” But that’s not the bad part. You need to check out the photos to see what he was caught wearing!
Jimmy Clausen has a aggregation of impact to do for Charlie Weis’ offense - namely get more than three games this season! Partaking in these types of parties (or events) probably isn’t the type of workout Coach Weis desired to see Clausen doing in the offseason.
Clausen and the Goidelic have another challenging schedule for the 2008 season, which includes Michigan, Pittsburgh and Southern Cal. But - I don’t see beer pong on the schedule… so, maybe Weis can see if they are available to play, since his QB is already studying up on that playbook.

Back on July 10th, Quenton “Rampage” Jackson forfeited his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship to Forrest Griffin via the judges’ decision, and then, meet 10 life later, politician was all over the news again when he was arrested and booked on account of felony reckless driving.
Well, it’s no big secret that most professional athletes tend to follow other sports outside of their own, so it’s no surprise that Carolina Panthers WR Steve Smith heard about Jackson’s endeavours on the news as well. His reaction to the situation?
As you can see, Smith is an athlete of the purist form as he holds true to the age daylong motto that ‘actions speak louder than words’, and all indicators are that Smith’s got his sights set on the big prize over in the UFC. Unfortunately for Steve, though, Panthers Head Coach Evangelist Fox wasn’t all too impressed with his assault on teammate Ken Lucas, and as a result, he was removed from Panthers training camp and suspended for the first two games of the season.
To add hurt to injury, apparently after taking the daylong achievement of shame, once he got home Smith realized one of two things:
A) Chuck Lidell - the Negro that politician originally foiled for the title - module be fighting on pay-per-view on August 9th, and that a get module probable put him back in disceptation for another title fight;
or
B) UFC President, Dana White, was meet flat-out equally unimpressed with Steve’s fight tape audition, and the road to a title fight might take meet a tad individual than originally expected.
Whatever the case may be, Smith has since returned to Panthers training camp, and has issued formal apologies to his coaching staff, his team, and most importantly, to Ken Lucas, whom suffered a broken nose as a result of the incident. Smith module be allowed to participate in team practices and exhibition games, but as of right now, his 2-game suspension to begin the season remains in tact.

Five games. That’s what separates the New royalty Yankees from a playoff bid this season; a five game inadequacy behind the American Wild Card directive Boston Red Sox. Should the Yankees miss the playoffs this season, it would be the first time since 1993. Hank Steinbrenner says injuries are to blame, but fans shouldn’t vexation because the Bronx Bombers module get it all next year.
Steinbrenner claims that it’s not making excuses about not winning, but stating the obvious. However, Hank has absent on to say that the Yankees will be the team to beat in 2009 - that is, if they can acquire a “top veteran starting pitcher.”
That’s all they need? I don’t uncertainty they module find some sort of veteran pitcher, however, they need help at catcher (if Jorge Posada’s arm is done) and in the bullpen before we meet up and honor them the kings of next season. But we’ll permit Hank go on and imagine for a lowercase bit.

It may not seem same a big care for the rest of the concern for us here in Canada to have an Olympic team doing substantially in soccer is an amazing feat. Canada has still to receive any medals in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Despite losing to Sweden 1:2 in it’s final assemble match, Canada module still be moving on.
“For the Canadian national team to qualify for the quarter-final is a huge accomplishment,” said coach Even Pellerud. “We knew before the hearty up that we had qualified, so we were pleased about that. I told the players to stay focused on the game, which they did. It was our third strong performance in a row.”
Canada module now face the United States on August 15th for the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament quarter-final match module be played at the Shanghai Stadium in Shanghai, China (18.00 / 06.00 ET / 03.00 PT).
