MANNY BEING SHOPPED, POSSIBLY TO PHILLIES?

The Red Sox seem to finally be fed up with Manny Ramirez’s antics and rumors are spreading that they are selection to trade him before the July 31st trade deadline. It’s a tricky situation, though, because Manny can refuse any trade to a team he doesn’t poverty to go to because of his 10 and 5 rights (10 eld of service, the terminal 5 with the same team). The number one team on Manny’s itemize that he would accept a trade to, according to The New royalty Post? The Phillies, who “have the best chance to trade for Ramirez because Philadelphia trainer Charlie Manuel has perhaps the strongest relationship with him of anyone in the majors.” If he goes anywhere, Manny wants to be re-united with his old hitting coach when he was with the Cleveland Indians.

So, Manny wants to become to Philly. Do the Phillies actually poverty Manny? It would take a lot, probably Carlos Carrasco, Lou Marson and someone significant from the field association roster. The Phillies would also poverty him to sign a daylong term care that would ready him in Philly if they provide up so much to intend him. Plus, where does Manny play? Ramirez is a mitt fielder and the Phillies already have Pat Burrell in left, unless they ship Burrell to the Red Sox in the deal. You can’t move Manny to right and have an outfield with both him and Burrell because that would the poorest antitank outfield in the majors. Manny would be a beatific replacement for Burrell if Pat leaves at the end of the season as a free agent, which looks likely, so maybe the Phillies should move and try to sign Manny after he becomes a free agent this off-season.

Reigning National League MVP Jimmy Rollins was benched Thursday for the second time this season by Phillies’ trainer Charlie Manuel. Rollins, instead of effort to Shea Stadium in Queens to finish off a three game set against the Mets with the rest of the Phillies in the team bus, opted to intend himself and arrived at the stadium after the designated 10 A.M. arrival time set by Manuel. “We’re not feat to agree on this one,” Rollins said. “We agreed terminal time but we’re not feat to agree on this one. He’s the trainer and he has to set a precedent with certain players and you’re held up to higher rules. That’s fine.”

Rollins was apparently New to a game one other time this season, but called Manuel to permit him undergo and got off with a warning.

Whether Rollins agrees with the selection or not, and whether he accepts the punishment (which he has) as a grown up or not, it does not appear to be having much of an affect on him.

When Rollins was bench earlier this season for not running out the pop-up, we all hoped that it would reddened a fire under the struggling shortstop and motivate him to start playing harder, but all it did was attain him run out pop-ups. Rollins still jogs out deposit outs and has been criticized numerous times this season for not running as hard on base hits as he should. In a recent discourse on the Comcast Sportsnet program Daily News Live, host Michael Barkan asked Phillies’ second baseman Chase Utley which of his teammates is routinely late. After thinking for a few seconds Utley responded “ Jimmy Rollins.” According to some people who are around the club on a regular basis, Rollins usually arrives to the ball park right before he is required to. I have been villified over the past pair life for attacking the character of Mets’ star shortstop Jose Reyes for his embryonic and classless celebration antics. I am a firm believer in being fair and objective and I cannot question Reyes’ character and then cut the failings of my own team’s star.

Rollins, as the reigning MVP, has publicly taken up the cover of the cheater of this team, but has failed to act same the leader. I have no intent what Rollins is same behind closed doors, whether he is communicatory amongst his teammates, encouraging them when they’re struggling, outcry at them when they’re slacking off. But I can’t envisage it would do much beatific since Rollins himself appears to be aloof and slacking off.

Team body need to advance by being vocal, but more importantly by example. I am as hard on Ryan Howard as anyone out there, but I was really impressed the other period when I saw him bust his hump downbound the distinction on a connector out that he had no chance of beating out without an errant throw on the play.
