The September 20 reddened heavyweight title match between Joe Calzaghe (45-0, 32 KOs) and Roy Jones, Jr. (52-4, 38 KOs) has officially been postponed because of a Calzaghe right carpus injury.
ESPN’s Dan Rafael quotes the fight’s promoter as saying “(Calzaghe) told me it’s an scraped right wrist,” the promoter said. “I was told that he hurt it on Sunday punching a heavy bag.”
The initial word is that the match could be rescheduled for November. No word on whether the fight’s proposed venue, New York’s President Square Garden, would be available during that month. The NY Knicks have still to release their schedule. The Rangers have a home fellow with the Boston Bruins on November 15 so that fellow is presumably out.
The Ricky Hatton vs. Paulie Malignaggi is currently on for November 22 so that fellow is also probably out. November 29 would sandwich the bout between Hatton and the proposed Dec 6 Oscar De La Hoya fight. That fellow wouldn’t attain sense.
That leaves the 1st and the 8th. Our guess is the November 8. Make plans accordingly.

Michelle Wie Disqualified at State Farm Classic
For leaving the scoring area after Friday’s round without signing her scorecard. From ESPN-
Michelle Wie finished the third round of the State Farm Classic alone in second on Saturday — then was disqualified for failing to directly sign her scorecard a period earlier.
Wie was playing her best sport of the year, finishing off a 5-under 67 to intend to 17 under for the tournament, one stroke back of Yani Tseng.
That’s when Wie was disqualified by LPGA officials, who said they’d scholarly during play Saturday from tournament volunteers about the 18-year-old’s mistake.
It is reported Wie was glaring after the news. I would be too. She was one shot out of the lead, with a intend and LPGA Tour card within her apprehension tomorrow.
Here’s the rule
According to a statement released Saturday by the LPGA, Wie’s failure to sign her scorecard was a ravishment of Rule 6-6b, according to The Rules of Golf and addicted by the USGA.
The rule states: “After termination of the round, the competitor should check his score for each hole and settle any questionable points with the Committee. He must ensure that the symbol or markers have signed the score card, sign the score card himself and return it to the Committee as soon as possible.”
Wie said that after she finished her round on Friday, she mitt the tent where players sign their scorecards and was chased downbound by some of the tournament volunteers employed in the tent who pointed out she hadn’t signed.
Wie returned to the tent and signed the card.
Which isn’t allowed, and connector Wie was disqualified. She prefabricated an honest mistake but one with huge reprucussions for her sport career at this point, and maybe even mentally. Can Michelle even buy a break right now? She was playing enthusiastic sport in Illinois.
I also poverty to mention Hee Won Han’s 3rd round 61 which puts her three strokes behind Tseng. Hee Won, who teed off Number 10 to begin play today, was 10 under for the round through 12 holes! Han is a very conformable golfer, but seldom flashy. I saw how her round was feat and despite my attention being mostly focused on the British Open, kept tabs on the State Farm. All Han had to do was play the terminal six holes in 3 under to shoot a record 59. It wasn’t to be, Han only prefabricated one birdie reaching in.
Yani Tseng continues to have an dumbfounding year. She won the LPGA Championship terminal month, Two second place finishes, 6th on the money itemize but a intend tomorrow would move her to 4th, and is running away with Rookie of the Year. There is a new force on tour.
Also commenting on Michelle Wie’s hardship today- Mulligan Stu, Hound Dog, and The Constructivist. Both feel sorry for Michelle. I do too.

The highest Ring Magazine-ranked boxer in “action” terminal weekend was Russian heavyweight Alexander Povetkin although it’s not as if his opponent Taurus Sykes actually desired to fight. Povetkin, Ring’s #5 heavyweight, won by KO in the fourth round. Sykes spent the entire fight control and holding. When the White Lion finally managed to give him with a punch Sykes floundered to the connector refusing to intend up. And to think I was angry that this fight wasn’t being broadcast on U.S. television.
If you can actually find a lawful strong punch then you have a better eye than me. A youtube recording of the fight’s third and fourth rounds is enclosed below.

Michelle Wie to play in another PGA Tour event
She will tee it up in next week’s Reno-Tahoe Open.
Fresh off a disqualification on the LPGA Tour, Michelle Wie has definite to tee it up against the men, again.
Wie module play next hebdomad in the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open, the first time she’ll play on the PGA Tour this year, tournament organizers said.
It module be her eighth time playing on the PGA Tour, and she has still to attain a cut. The only time Wie has prefabricated money playing against the men was on the Asiatic Tour, in 2006, at the SK Telcom Open.
*****
Wie, who is 18 and attends Stanford part time, has no status on any tour. She has only one sponsor’s exemption mitt this year. She module be playing her seventh and final LPGA Tour event of this assemblage at the CN Canadian Women’s Open in August.
The Reno-Tahoe Open starts July 31 at Montreux Golf & Country Club. The Nevada tournament is one of the weakest fields on the PGA Tour, held opposite the World Golf Championship in Ohio. Steve Flesch won the Reno-Tahoe Open terminal year.
Opinion on Wie playing another Men’s event is mixed, but more unfavorable than favorable. Joe Logan calls it ‘Dumb, dumb, dumb, Ryan at GNN is incredulous, but Blogger The Constructivist says in a interpret to Ryan’s post “Dealing with the pressure of playing with the PGA’s 2nd tier should be beatific preparation for the CO the following week. Sorenstam has indicated she scholarly about pressure and the game from playing at Colonial–why can’t Wie do the same?”
I’ve been critical of Michelle playing in men’s tournaments before, mostly because she was playing horribly. That she would be meet another on the men’s tour. I still stick to those opinions, but what is the harm of her playing in Tahoe? As I see it, very lowercase to none if all Michelle sees this is as an opportunity to impact on her game right now.

With Football season right around the corner, we here at Dejuiced! have definite to take a countenance at the coaches in the NFL and college football to see how substantially the fans approve of them. Let’s squawk off the college ranks with a countenance at Rich Rodriguez.
Rich Rodriguez is the new head coach of the University of Michigan Wolverines. He was hired after histrion Carr announced his retirement at the end of the 2007 season.
The former West Colony University head coach has absent through a messy split with his former employer, one that was ultimately resolved by Rodriguez returning $4 million to the Mountaineers (a tab that module mostly be picked up by his new employer). Rodriguez module be introducing a new offense to the Maize and Blue fan base this season, one that module countenance more same Appalachian State’s than Michigan’s from the 2007 season. We all undergo which team came out on the better end of that game. Anyway - the question is module Rodriguez be successful at Michigan by instituting an offense that needs players (that he doesn’t have, yet) to attain it work?
Michigan module pay Rodriguez $2.5 mil for the next six years. I’m sure fans module expect Rodriguez and the Big Blue to intend 10 games year-in-and-year-out, meet same he did in his final three seasons at West Virginia. But, without his players in place to run his offense, it could be a tough road ahead for the Wolverines. Another site has predicted that Michigan module intend only four games this season - and retrograde their home opener to Utah. So - the question remains, module Rodriguez take Michigan to the next level? Will the Wolverines once again become the elite of the Big Ten? Or module he become a huge headache for the fan base that is aching for a national title? You decide.

NY Giants trade TE Shockey to New Orleans
Sports writers in the New royalty area module now need to find another topic to indite about. From ESPN-
Sean Payton’s persistence finally won out. The New Orleans Saints acquired Jeremy Shockey for a second- and a fifth-round plan pick in 2009.
“Jeremy is a player that we are excited to have on our roster. He is someone I am familiar with as a player,” Payton said. “He brings a skill set to the position that I feel module be a tremendous benefit to our offense.”
The Saints had been trying since February to acquire the discontent New royalty Giants tight end. First, they offered a second-round pick. Before the draft, they accumulated the offer to a second- and a fifth-round plan choice, but until a few life before the start of their training camp, the Giants felt he was too valuable to lose.
******
“Jeremy brought enthusiastic energy to the game every time he stepped on the field,” Giants team president Evangelist Mara said. “He had a close relationship with my father from the time we drafted him, and I had a pair of daylong conversations with Jeremy this spring and summer. From those conversations, it was apparent to me that a fresh start was the best thing for us and for Jeremy.”
Even through the weekend, the Saints had tried to broker a care for Shockey. On Sunday, they tried to intend in the middle of the Jason Taylor trade to see whether there was a artefact they could attain a three-way care that brought them Shockey, according to multiple sources. Taylor went from the Miami Dolphins to the pedagogue Redskins for a second-round pick in 2009 and a sixth-rounder in 2010.
Shockey, 28, a four-time Pro Bowler, has 371 catches for 4,228 yards and 27 touchdowns in his six-year NFL career. He grew discontent with the Giants because he desired to be more participating with some downfield passing. New royalty valued his run blocking.
******
The Giants still have five tight ends, including Kevin Boss, who started the terminal six games of terminal season. The others are rookie Eric Butler, theologian Collins, Darcy President and Michael Matthews.
Notwithstanding his four Pro Bowl appearances, my own opinion of Shockey is that he is overrated. This is feat to be one of those deals where we won’t undergo who module become out on top for a few years.
