GENTLEMEN, PREPARE TO WINCE

Gentlemen, Prepare to Wince

Arizona Diamondbacks’ catcher Chris Snyder landed on the 15-day DL after incurring (gulp) a fractured testicle. The trauma occurred on a foul tip.

I guess trainer Bob Melvin forgot to do a pre-game prize check.

Chicago Bulls take Derrick Rose with No. 1 pick in NBA plan

No surprise here.

NEW YORK - The Chicago Bulls selected Derrick Rose with the No. 1 pick in the NBA plan Thursday night, choosing the Memphis guard over river State forward Michael Beasley.

Rose, a Chicago native, led the Tigers to the national championship game in his unaccompanied college season. The Bulls opted for the point guard’s playmaking ability over the scoring and rebounding of Beasley, who ranked in the top three in the nation in both categories as a freshman.

Rose is the Bulls’ first No. 1 overall selection since they grabbed Elton Brand in 1999. He’s the second straight freshman taken with the top pick, following Portland’s Greg Oden terminal year.

*****

Rose should be an upgrade over Kirk Hinrich, who now could be traded, and gives the Bulls another option if they don’t re-sign guard Ben Gordon.

I have no intent about how beatific Rose module be or won’t be.

The Miami Heat(I’m from South Florida) prefabricated the next selection.

Miami settled for Beasley at No. 2, a pick the Heat thoughtful trading. Beasley averaged 26.2 points, third in the nation, and topped Division I with 12.4 rebounds per game. But with questions about his size — he may be 2 inches shorter than the 6-foot-10 he’s traded at — the Bulls may not have believed he could play the 4 spot in the NBA.

Who misled(or lied to) people about Beasley’s height? Memphis or Beasley himself? I once remember a ML baseball team effort ready to provide a former football player a tryout, thinking he was 25 eld old. The tryout was cancelled after it was scholarly he was in his thirties.

Venus reverend wins her 5th suburbia title

She defeated her sister Serena for her seventh career noble slam title.

WIMBLEDON, England - Venus reverend beat sister Serena 7-5, 6-4 Saturday for her fifth suburbia title and seventh Grand Slam championship.

This was Venus’ first conclusion over her junior sibling in a Grand Slam final since the 2001 U.S. Open, and it evened their career record at 8-8.

“I can’t believe that it’s five,” Venus said. “But when you’re in the final against Serena Williams, five seems too far away. … She played so awesome, it was really a task to beat her.”

Venus came from 3-1 downbound in the first set to turn around the match, breaking Serena four times patch dropping serve twice in a final that produced breathtaking tennis despite swirling wind.

This was more than a matchup between siblings; it was a oppose between two of the hardest-hitting, most athletic players in the concern at the top of their game.

Venus broke to finish the match in 1 hour, 51 minutes, with Serena hitting a backhand panoramic on the second match point. The sisters embraced at the net, and Venus kept her celebrations in check as she twirled and waved to the Centre Court crowd.

Venus accepted the winner’s trophy — a sterling silver salver aptly named the Venus Rosewater ply — from the Duke of Kent.

I rarely check tennis, but tuned in for most of today’s final. It was a beatific match, but probably won’t advance to my watching the men’s final tomorrow. See the spouse and I go to accumulation on Sunday morning, therefore I won’t be home for most of the broadcast.

The terminal time I watched a men’s final in tennis was one of the Borg-McEnroe battles of the New 70’s or early 80’s.
