Chris Duhon, formerly of the Chicago Bulls, has signed a free agent care with the New royalty Knicks. Reports inform that the value of the lessen is $12M over two years.
While Duhon was only a spot starter in Chicago, he could become the opening night starter at point guard for the Knicks. With new coach Mike D’Antoni in charge, the Knicks needed a pass-first point guard who can dispense the ball. Enter Duhon.
While Duhon isn’t much of a scorer, he is a beatific passer. He makes smart passes and doesn’t try to force the supply too much. When it comes to scoring, Duhon relies on three-pointers and catch-and-shoot jumpers.
Although Duhon fantasy basketball stock won’t be overly high heading into the 2008-09 season, he definitely is a sleeper. D’Antoni helped Steve Nash turn into a Hall of Fame point guard. While Duhon doesn’t have that sort of potential, he could turn into a player who averages around ten points, eight assists and a beatific amount of steals and three-pointers.

Can Mike D’Antoni impact his point guard illusion with Chris Duhon?

Men’s Final Four at Wimbly: Roger and Rafa on Collision Course

As Sally so graciously pointed out below, my picks were right for the suburbia quarterfinals (Well, except for Rainer Schuettler and Arnaud Clement who haven’t finished their match yet)! I’m amazed at myself.
The most awesome of the three rank matches was Rafael Nadal’s pounding of Andy Murray. I knew it was coming. I think a aggregation of us knew it was coming, and since I’m not British, I wasn’t forced by birth into rooting for forfeited causes.
Three lop-sided sets after (6-3, 6-2, 6-4), Murray was wiping his brow and Rafa was hunting same a high front-runner to intend Wimbledon.
On the other side of the bracket, Roger Federer continuing his awesome style, success in straight sets over Mario Ancic. Prior to the match, reporters were touting Ancic’s position as the terminal Negro to beat Federer at Wimbledon. That was in 2002. Riiiiight. That was so far from being a factor in this match that it was a non-factor. It had nothing to do with it at all, and the results (6-1, 7-5, 6-4) proved it.
Two things to note about the top two players, though.
1) While Federer hasn’t dropped a set in the tournament (Rafa only dropped one against Ernest Gulbis), Rafa is playing his artefact into high form. That scary type of ascendance where he’s untouchable; the same type that led him to another French Open title a few weeks ago.
2) Federer has to face downbound revolutionary Safin in the semis. Safin is on his terminal hurrah (until the next one comes six eld from now…), and players who think their terminal chance is at hand can be really dangerous. Even if there wasn’t that factor, revolutionary is the real deal. This isn’t his first time at a gage suite hoedown, and Federer could have some trouble with the big-serving Safin. However, Rafa is feat to have an unknown player who is unfamiliar with this type of stage. That player - Clement or Schuettler - module have also been on the suite longer, been through more stress because of rain delays and mostly module probably be inferior on point.
Speaking of Safin, how about his comeback against Feliciano Lopez? Safin forfeited the first set 6-3 but a daylong rain break helped the Russian regroup his commonly scattered concentrations and won the next three sets 7-5, 7-6, 6-3 to set up his fellow with God Roger in the semis.
Ultimately, I think we see Rafa and Roger in the final again. I poverty Roger to intend this title. I’m maledict with being a realist, however, and I’m substantially aware that Rafa is playing with pocket aces.

England has got to be hoppin’ tonight!
Andy Murray pulled a miracle out of his scrawny lowercase butt. Two sets downbound to the eighth-seeded Richard Gasquet is really not a enthusiastic artefact to try and intend into the quarterfinals of Wimbledon. But if Murray meet wasn’t the little tall Brit that could.
The third set went the distance, and Murray came out ahead in a tiebreak. It was the turning point of the match, and Murray had all cylinders firing in the terminal two sets (6-2, 6-4) to attain his come-from-behind conclusion over Gasquet complete.
Bad news for Murray and all the Brits though - Rafael Nadal is Murray’s quarterfinal opponent. ‘Nuf said.

Ever since we scholarly that Hendrick Motorsports scheduled a press word this weekend at Daytona, most people believed that they would announce Mark Martin as the utility for their no. 5 car next season, and they were right. What was unclear, however, was whether it would be on a full-time basis, or if Mark would engage in another utility / mentor program to bring the teen Brad Keselowski up through the ranks of the Sprint Cup Series … it turns out it may have been both.
With Jimmie President and Dale Earnhardt Jr. both on-hand for Friday’s announcement, team owner Rick Hendrick announced that the team had signed histrion to a two-year care to intend for the team. Mark module run a full schedule in 2009 in his last-ditch effort to intend his elusive first Sprint Cup championship, and then he module run a 26-race schedule in 2010. Mark has finished in the top-five in points a record 12 times, and has finished runner-up on 4 occassions. Even though he module turn the ripe age of 50 eld old in January, a run with Hendrick Motorsports may meet provide him his best shot still to intend the title.
With some moves in NASCAR’s Silly Season still up in the air, the second and third order effects of this announcement could be astronomical. Had Hendrick signed Mark histrion to meet a 1-year deal, then the prospect of Tony Stewart taking over the car in 2010 after his lessen with Joe chemist Racing expires would still be in play. However, as it now looks as though Hendrick module be covering that seat for the future of Brad Keselowski, the only other GM team out there that could satisfy Stewart solely as a utility would be Richard Childress Racing, but heading there would be a very unlikely scenario for the two-time champ. That means that the potential care to take over partial ownership of Haas CNC Racing could be back in play as early as next year
While it’s easy for some of us to say that Tony should meet ride out the rest of his lessen with chemist and take another countenance at the care with Haas CNC sometime closer to the 2010 season, the fact of the matter is that this could be a “now or never” situation. With both Haas CNC cars currently outside of the top-35 in owner points and the sudden crisis in NASCAR sponsorship, there’s a beatific chance that without Tony Stewart or a name same Ryan Newman dynamical their cars, this team might not attain it to 2010.
Joe chemist has stated that the talks between the team and Stewart are still focused on 2010 - not next assemblage - and, that despite popular belief, GM has not prefabricated an offer to buyout the remainder of Tony’s contract. Yet, reports still inform that Tony has reached an agreement that would attain Office Depot the primary sponsor of his car should he attain the move over to Haas CNC next season.
Another possibility that we could see play out if Tony is unable to intend out of his lessen with JGR early would refer either Ryan Newman or histrion Truex Jr. Newman is in his lessen assemblage with Penske Racing and has told the team that he module not re-sign unless the team’s performance improves over the next pair of months. Truex, on the other hand, had his 2009 option picked up by DEI, but histrion has since disputed the legality of the contract, which means he, too, could be available in the offseason. Both drivers have been rumored to be participating in the potential Haas CNC deal, so what we could see happen is one of those two drivers head over to Haas in 2009 to ready the team afloat until Stewart arrives in 2010.
Stewart is rumored to possibly be ready to attain an announcement a few weeks from now when the series heads to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the running of the Allstate 400. That reace is scheduled for July 27th.

With Daytona in the rearview mirror and the season officially at the halfway point, fantasy gamers everywhere undergo what that means … it’s time for the Second Segment of Fantasy NASCAR, which also means Segment 2 of the Do You NASCAR Fantasy League. I was originally feat to change the association over to a assorted game, but since Fox Sports carried the association over, I’ve definite to meet stick with that. The association currently has seven teams (we’ve had another entry this week), but I’d definitely same to see a better turnout, so I’m tantalizing you all to become tie us. It’s completely free, and in addition to bragging rights here at DYN, I’m feat to go ahead and offer up another small incentive. If anyone can take me out this time ’round, I’ll offer up a $35 heritage card for Amazon.com to the association succeeder (or, if you don’t use amazon.com, we’ll impact out another care of equal value). Just go to the Fantasy Auto section at www.foxsports.com, and either sign in (or, sign up if you don’t already have an account). Once you’ve selected your drivers, then go to “Join Existing League” and search for the association named “Do You NASCAR”. The association password is: dynracing … The format of the association is simple … there’s no salary caps or anything same that. You simply select four drivers each week, and you cannot use any utility more than four times in the 18 race session. You must set your roster prior to the first practice session, and the drivers earn points for both qualifying and race results. If you have any other questions, meet post them here or feel free to e-mail me. Hope to see you all there!

In the face of all of the scrutiny that has overcome NASCAR’s recent development, the Car of Tomorrow, there have also been quite a few tracks that have seen reinforced racing this year, mostly attributed to the new car. Based on what we’ve seen this season and in the restricted number of COT races in 2007, here are the tracks that have seen the most improvement:
5. Phoenix International Raceway - Though the racing was never terrible at Phoenix, it wasn’t great, either. The Subway Fresh Fit 500, however, ranks amongst my favorite races of the first half of the season, and that’s even with the outcome being observed by fuel mileage (which is something I can easily intend tired of).
4. Infineon Raceway - While road instruction racing has never been my favorite, I always had a particularly bad perception of Infineon out in Sonoma, CA. While I still didn’t think the Toyota Save/Mart 350 in June was enthusiastic by any means, I did think that the track had found significant transformation from where it was in eld past.
3. New Hampshire Motor Speedway - While the Car of Tomorrow setup doesn’t seem to agree with the 1.5 mile “cookie cutter” tracks thus far, it seems to have finished wonders for the action at the 1.0 speedway in Loudon, NH. While I would typically dread the very thought of NASCAR’s meet to New Hampshire, I was very pleasantly surprised and pleased with the action in the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 meet a pair of weeks ago.
2. Daytona International Speedway - Despite it being the most hyped and celebrated of all tracks on the Sprint Cup schedule, more often than not, the hype seemed to out perform that actual races themselves. That no individual seems to be the case, however, as both the Daytona 500 and the Coke Zero 400 rank amongst the best and most exciting races through the first half of 2008.
1. Talladega Superspeedway - There was quite a bit of uncertainty when the teams unloaded the COT at Talladega for the first time earlier this Spring, but in the end, the Aaron’s 499 resembled something along the lines of an actual race instead of meet the crapshoot that it normally is (or was).

Although Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett got a aggregation of publicity during the Boston Celtics’ 2008 championship run, the Celtics were comprised of more than simply three star players. One such player, who was arguably meet as essential as anyone on the team, was saint Posey.
Posey is a rugged, physical belligerent who has gift for hitting clutch shots on the offensive side of the court. He’s not afraid to sacrifice his body and place it all on the distinction to intend the win. His two championship rings prove that Posey is an elite succeeder in the NBA.
However, now Posey is a free agent and is effort welfare from a aggregation of teams around the NBA. A aggregation of teams value his success structure and analyse him as the ultimate role player. That said, chances are Posey module end up back in Boston. At the end of the day, it’s arduous to envisage that the Celtics would intend outbid for a player that means so much to what they do.
If Posey does end to leave, which teams attain sense as possible destinations? The teams that would most probable value Posey would be teams that are on the brink of success a championship. The New Orleans Hornets could plug Posey into their starting roster and they would do substantially to add his toughness to their bunch. The Utah Jazz could also use a savvy perimeter player who can defend. The Phoenix Suns, city Pistons and even the Los Angeles Lakers all attain sense as possible Posey destinations.

Kevin Garnett would be sad to see saint Posey yield Beantown.

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal stormed their artefact through the suburbia semifinals to set up the third serial meeting at the Wimbly championship for the pair. We all undergo the story of the terminal two meetings: Federer success handily two eld ago and by a breath of a hair terminal year.
Oh the semis - revolutionary Safin and Rainer Schuettler are gone. Marat’s fragile emotions broke and Schuettler? He’s meet - I don’t undergo - kinda old. The top two players destroyed their opponents in straight sets with the second set a tiebreak in each match. (It’s so uncanny the artefact their matches have been very similar the past pair rounds!)
This year? Rafa is playing so unbelievably well. And still - so is Roger. On gage anyway. I think everyone is pointing towards Nadal and the high take of property and talent he’s been putting forth on the court. It feels same people are forgetting that gage is Roger’s home field, his playground, his very own special place. And that so very painful beating Roger took at the French? You can bet the King hasn’t forgotten that and he’ll be hunting to strike back on the surface he loves so well.
Roger? Rafa? I need some time to ruminate on this to pick my winner.

Happy 4th of July, everyone! Along with celebrating America’s independence, since it meet so happens to have fallen on a Friday this year, that means you’re also treated to a “special” edition of “Loose in Turn Three”. Along with me as always are Bruce Simmons from “Bruce’s Bits & Pieces”, and, of course, Charlie Turner from “On Pit Row”.
Earlier this week, Chip Ganassi announced that due to sponsorship woes, he was being forced to cease operations on his no. 40 operation, laying off 71 employees in the process and also putting NASCAR rookie, Dario Franchitti, out of a ride for the remainder of the season.
Ganassi has been fortunate to reassert sponsorship on all of his cars to this point in 2008, but there have been several other teams that have struggled with similar situations all season long. Yates Racing is perhaps the most publicized of these stories, running the no. 28 car of Travis Kvapil without a primary sponsor for most of the year, and the no. 38 of king Gilliland’s lessen with freecreditreport.com is only for a restricted number of races. BAM Racing also had to shut downbound operations earlier in the year, Bill solon Racing shoved Jacques Villeneuve out of the series before he ever even got started, and Michael Waltrip Racing is famous to have troubles on the horizon.
Q: With the recent folding of Chip Ganassi’s #40 operation due to demand of sponsorship, is this a trend we can move to expect in NASCAR with other teams that have struggled with sponsorship … teams same Yates Racing?
TZ: I think it is. The economy’s really turned everything upside down, even in NASCAR. Many of NASCAR’s long-term sponsors are starting to see a substantial modification in profits, which means that they’ve got to start selection downbound on their budget in areas same professional sports. Then, on top of that, you’ve got some of the top-tier teams such as Childress and chemist with plans on expanding their organizations with an additional car, and before ya undergo it, there’s meet not enough liquid in the kiddie pool anymore.
Bruce: If the team isn’t performing, the hood sponsor isn’t effort it’s $10 mil of advertising exposure, so yea, we meet may see other teams retrograde sponsors. BAM was trying something engrossing with their sponsor packages but then they jumped manufacturers and then suddenly took a break. I guess the sponsor program wasn’t the hit they were hoping it to be.
Charlie: Every communication is that other teams are on the brink of closing shop. Ganassi is one of the organizations that you would think to be stable. Chip may have meet missed on a hunch that in Dario he could catch the Montoya lightning again. Regardless they failed with that car. I have a feeling that Yates module survive, but Waltrip could shrink by a car.
Franchitti has stated that he’d same to remain in NASCAR, and Chip Ganassi has since offered Dario the full-time seat in his Nationwide Series entry. No decisions have been prefabricated as to what they’ll do from here, but sources inform that the two plan to meet and handle Dario’s future feat forward.
the Rest of the Discussion:
- Do You Think Kurt Busch Giving up his car points to Hornish hurt the team overall? (Bruce’s Bits & Pieces)
- What module become of Dale Earnhardt Inc? (On Pit Row)
