Incase some of you may have forgotten already, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kyle Busch were not the only two drivers participating in an emotion-filled accident this past Saturday night in Richmond. As you might recall, back on travel 352 of the Dan author 400, Casey Mears clipped the side of Michael Waltrip’s no. 55 NAPA Autoparts Toyota Camry, sound him into the surround and gift the car goodish damage. As retaliation, Waltrip kept dynamical and directly clung to the back of Mears’ car, gift him an extra bit of a push downbound the track. Without hesitation, NASCAR directly ordered Waltrip to park his car for the 48 remaining laps, an order that Waltrip was receiving for the first time in his professional racing career.

Both drivers were on-hand for Monday’s testing session at Lowe’s Motor Speedway (follow the unification for a report on the testing session), and neither utility appeared to be carrying the extra coefficient of stricken feelings over the mishap. Mears claimed that for him it was simply a breakdown in act between he and his spotter that initiated the accident, and that he simply had no intent that the 55 car was there.

Waltrip stated, “It was meet an accident, and Casey’s a beatific dude. I undergo he didn’t do it on purpose, and sometimes when somebody does something that I viewed as being pretty stupid, that module attain you madderwort than if someone did something on purpose … I forfeited my modify for a split second and ran into the back of him.”

NASCAR stated that no additional penalties or fines module be presented to Waltrip for his reckless behavior.

- After high the first 381 laps of the Dan author 400, Denny Hamlin suffered demise misfortunes when he felt a tire starting to go down. As a result, Denny limped his no. 11 Joe chemist Racing Toyota around the track for a few more laps before finally determining to park it in the middle of turns three and four. Hamlin’s selection to stop his car on the track and designedly entertainer the caution flag also managed to entertainer the ira of NASCAR, to which they handed downbound a two-lap penalty to Hamlin. Following the race, NASCAR stated that the black flag on the 11 team was sufficient penalty, and that they, too, would not be the recipient of any further fines or penalties.

- NASCAR’s most popular star, Dale Earnhardt Jr, was recently offered a check for $100,000 from Texas Motor Speedway track owner, Eddie Gossage, to contend in the IndyCar Series race at Texas on June 7th.  When asked about the offer from the media, Junior responded by sarcastically stating, “Well, he thinks I’m a cheap date, I guess.” Gossage apparently hasn’t taken Earnhardt’s response as a candid no, and is apparently still pursuing the notion of effort Earnhardt to contend in the race.

Chase Update - May
#1 – Jeff Burton (1): Burton’s rolling into May hunting same he’s in search of replacing Jeff Gordon as NASCAR’s new “Mr. Consistency.” In nine races this season, the underway points cheater has 6 top-ten finishes, and has still to finish a race worsened than 13th. #1 – Jeff Burton (1):
Burton’s rolling into May hunting same he’s in search of replacing Jeff Gordon as NASCAR’s new “Mr. Consistency.” In nine races this season, the underway points cheater has 6 top-ten finishes, and has still to finish a race worsened than 13th. Looking into the May schedule, things could intend engrossing for Burton. We start off at Richmond where he won back in 1998, but he has only one top-ten since 2004. The series then moves onto Darlington where he terminal won back in ’99 and currently hold back-to-back top-ten’s, though those are his only two since 2001. Lowe’s Motor Speedway had gotten shaky for Burton there for awhile as well, but seems to be righting that ship with two top-ten’s in the terminal three races there. With as substantially as some of the guys behind him are running, don’t countenance for Jeff to hold the points advance for long, but he should still be in a easy points position somewhere around 5th become June.

#2 – Kyle Busch (2):
“Wild Thing” has been simply sensational so far this year, and has now closed the notch between he and first place back to within a mere 22 points. With two Cup wins in his pocket and capture arguably his poorest track on the schedule terminal hebdomad at Talladega, Busch now heads to arguably his best track in Richmond. Busch has 5 top-five finishes in only six career starts at Richmond, and holds a enthusiastic chance to become out of there the new points leader. Things probably won’t slow downbound much at Darlington, either, where he also holds 2 top-ten’s in three starts, but Lowe’s is definitely the Achilles heel for Busch. His best career finish in Charlotte was a 30th place run terminal Fall. He module need to find a artefact to carry his momentum through the Coca Cola 600 if he wants to start June out on top. Worst case scenario, though, is he should be sitting top-3 in the standings.

#3 – Dale Earnhardt Jr. (3):
So what if he hasn’t won yet? Junior Nation has had plenty to cheer about so far this assemblage with 7 top-ten finishes through the first 9 races, and now we head to Richmond where he’s a three-time victor. His finishes over the terminal three races there have been inferior than desirable, but his new home at HMS seems to be paying dividends, and the aggregation he’s effort from his new teammates seems to be working. Junior should achievement away from Richmond with a solid finish, and he has plenty to countenance forward to at Darlington where he has 4 top-ten’s in the terminal 7 races. Lowe’s is a track that seems to have gotten away from Dale at some point, but things were on the up and up there terminal assemblage with a pair of 8th place finishes. This may be another winless month for Earnhardt, but don’t expect him to become out any worsened than fourth in points.

#4 – Denny Hamlin (6):
Denny has been gaining connector through the standings at rapid speeds. After a unsatisfactory start to the season, he’s now turned that around with five straight finishes of 6th or better, and the May schedule is right up his ally. Between the three points races in May, Denny has a compounded ten starts that have resulted in an amazing 8 top-ten’s. Look for him to pick up his first intend at any one of these tracks, and barring any misfortunes, countenance for him to attain up the 99 point inadequacy between he and first place and become out of May as your new points leader.

#5 – Jimmie Johnson (4):
He had only 1 top-ten finish through the first five races of the season, so what did this team do? They went out and tested at various tracks nearly every period during their first off-week, and it’s really shown in the results column. Since then, he rattled off three straight top-five’s and looked to be headed for another at Talladega, only to intend shuffled back in the final laps for a 13th place finish. The May schedule favors President very much. He swept both Richmond races terminal year, has 4 top-five’s in the terminal 5 Darlington races, and is a 5-time succeeder at Lowe’s with 11 serial top-ten finishes there. Expect Jimmie Jo’ to round out the top-three with Hamlin and Busch by the end of the month.

#6 – Kevin Harvick (5):
After rattling off 7 straight top-15 finishes to begin the season, Harvick has fallen a bit the terminal two weeks due to a demand of fuel at Pheonix and a terminal travel accident in Talladega. He should be okay at Richmond – where he won in 2006 – but, countenance for some of this descending spiral to move through Darlington and Lowe’s, where he’s been average at best. He’s probable to retrograde some connector in the standings and module probably close the month out somewhere around 10th in points, but things should start picking back up sometime in June.

#7 – Clint Bowyer (8):
Bowyer showed early signs that terminal season may have been a fluke, but the 6 serial top-ten finishes he’s now holding would inform otherwise.  The three tracks on tap for May have been beatific enough to him so far in his teen career that he should have plenty to countenance forward to with 6 finishes in the top-15 in his nine races at these tracks.

#8 – Greg Biffle (10):
The Biff started the assemblage off great, but now has only one top-ten in the past four races. He’s enjoyed moderate success at Richmond and Lowe’s in the past, but has been solid at Darlington, where he’s a two-time winner. Greg stands a chance to drop out of the top-12 this month, but I think he’ll hold on somewhere around 11th or 12th.

#9 – Tony Stewart (7):
Despite playing a factor in nearly every race this year, Smoke has had some bad phenomenon the terminal pair of weeks, but he’s usually a slow starter anyway. He’s been solid at Richmond and Lowe’s, but Darlington has been average for him the terminal few seasons and is one of only 4 tracks he has still to intend at. I’d expect to see Stewart hold connector through the month somewhere right about where he is now.

#10 – Carl Edwards (11):
He’s been the only utility in the garage able to offer up the same take excitement as Kyle Busch this year, and would actually be 3 spots higher if not for his penalty at Vegas … and, even higher if not for a few issues with his car. Richmond hasn’t been enthusiastic to him, Darlington’s been good, and Lowe’s has been great, with 4 top-five’s in 5 races. With two 1.5 mile tracks on the schedule, Edwards should be able to pick up at small a few more spots in the standings.

#11 – Ryan Newman (12):
He hadn’t been running particularly substantially since success Daytona, but now has 2 top-ten’s in the terminal 3 races – and, it should be 3 in a row had it not been for an engine failure at Phoenix. Newman’s had a aggregation of success, and a aggregation failures at all three tracks on the schedule. He’s a true wildcard at this point in the Chase.

#12 – Juan Pablo Montoya (17):
A 2nd place run at Talladega has put JPM exclusive the top-12 for the first time in his NASCAR career, despite this being his first top-ten of the season. He failed to finish in the top-20 in any of the races at these tracks during his rookie season, and should easily be willing from the Chase field as early as Richmond.

Who Will Drop This Month:
- Juan Pablo Montoya

Who Will Make the Field:
- Jeff Gordon

Ronnie Coleman Squatting Heavy

I was recently having a coffee with one of the big guys at my gym and we got on to a very engrossing topic. I desired to share some of the key issues with you guys as I feel it is a very essential issue.

Why heavy coefficient does not always equal huge muscles

The guy who I had the coffee with is a hobby bodybuilder but he has one of the best physiques I have ever seen. His shoulders are huge and round and his back and legs are thick, panoramic and very strong. He is somewhat of an authority at my gym and we met terminal assemblage when I dropped a deadlift coefficient on my toe and he had a beatific old laugh. We have been friends ever since.

But there is something strange about this big guy: he only uses reddened weights.

Last hebdomad the two of us went out for a coffee to talk about employed out and chronicle in generalized and we got on to the topic of his famous reddened weights workouts. Here is how the conversation went:

Me: “Why do you only workout with reddened weights?”

Him: “Okay RT. What do you think the most essential element of bodybuilding is?”

Me: “Ummm… technique. Without a doubt.”

Him: “That’s why.”

This is an essential warning to see but most of us cut it. The most essential thing if you are trying to become a successful bodybuilder is technique. Without proper technique nothing you do in the gym module be as effective as it could be.

Important bodybuilding lessons to remember

Sometimes we forget the essential bodybuilding rules because we are caught up in ego. You can try and tell me it is something else but 99% of the time it is ego.

If you undergo your technique is perfect and still go on to a heavier coefficient it is ego. It is because you don’t poverty to countenance same you are lifting a small coefficient in front of everyone else. Or, it is because you think that by upping the coefficient faster you module acquire faster than your mates. Ego.

Never permit ego or anything else intend in the artefact of beatific SMART training. Like any sport, bodybuilding requires mastery of some assorted techniques. If you forget about the techniques you can forget about the results.

Bad technique can also do serious damage

Lifting with a coefficient you are not ready for restitution your technique. This can mean poor muscle ontogeny but it can also mean something else. Take a countenance at this recording to see what trying to displace with bad technique can do.

WARNING - not for the ligththearted.

The Dan author 400 Qualifying
Image details: The Dan author 400 Qualifying served by picapp.com

Mark histrion is regarded by nearly every driver, fan, and anyone associated with NASCAR as being one of the large drivers in the history of our sport, despite not having a Cup Series championship on his resume. He’s won 35 Cup Series points races, has the Nationwide Series record for wins with 48, and has finished 2nd in the Cup Series points standings on four occasions … so, yes, same him or not, I would be disposed to agree that he does indeed rank amongst NASCAR’s all-time elite.

Mark Martin’s status in this sport’s history, however, is not what is in question. Rather, I question his status in racing as it stands today. Following the 2006 season in which histrion finished the assemblage 9th in points, he prefabricated a concious selection to part structure with daylong time car owner and friend, Jack Roush, and simultaneously retire from racing … or, so it seemed. After a daylong farewell tour that seemed to hit every track on the NASCAR season, in the offseason between ‘06 and ‘07, Mark announced that he would return to the track on a part-time schedule to help the no. 01 team in the DEI camp. This “part-time” schedule, however, included a 24 race tour out of the Cup Series’ 36 races - that’s 2/3rd’s of the rank schedule, and it has since carried over into 2008, despite the fact that he’s abondoned the 01 car and now races Dale Earnhardt Jr’s former car, the no. 8.

At first glance, the typical fan would probably say, “so what, what’s the big deal?”, and rightfully so. But, about the side-effects that Martin’s holdup presence is having on the sport? After NASCAR hit an all-time boom in production of teen talents in the New 90’s and earlier in this decade, the manufacturing of standout prospects has been relegated to a minimum these past pair of years, and for a guy that’s presented himself as an ambassador for doing what’s beatific for the sport, histrion hasn’t been much of a help in that department.

The rise of teen David Ragan into the Cup Series ranks was suspended for a assemblage or two with Martin’s uncertainty as to whether or not he would return assemblage after year, but he finally earned that opportunity terminal assemblage after histrion had finally departed from the no. 6 car, and now it appears to be happening all over again with Aric Almirola.

Almirola fell into a spot with DEI after the purchase of Ginn Racing at the end of the season, and was directly slotted to share dynamical duties in the no. 8 Army Chevrolet with Mark. Prior to this season, the 23 year-old Almirola’s professional dynamical experience had been minimal. He competed in a few truck races in 2005 and 2007, and full-time in 2006, though with very lowercase success. He also raced in 21 Nationwide Series events from ‘06 to ‘07, and was credited with a intend in Milwuakee for Joe chemist Racing, though Denny Hamlin actually finished that race. The bulk of his racing this scheduled is slated to become in the Sprint Cup Series, racing in only 12 races, patch histrion handles the other 24.

Almirola impressed the masses by finishing 8th at Bristol in the Food City 500 in his first Cup Series start of the season, and seventh overall (he raced in 6 events in 2007). Since then, he’s finished 42nd at Martinsville due to engine failures after starting 3rd and running near the top-ten all day, and most recently settled for a 33rd place finish at Talladega.

Meanwhile, histrion has finished in the top-ten in four of his seven races this year, and is currently riding on a streak of three serial finishes of 8th or better, including a 3rd place run terminal weekend at Richmond. This now totals 15 top-ten’s for histrion in only 31 races for histrion since connexion DEI, and he has been in disceptation for a intend on several occasions.

So, it’s not that I question whether or not Mark’s still got it. It’s not that I question whether or not turning 50 next Jan module slow histrion downbound at all. Heck, I’m not even questioning whether or not Aric Almirola is more suited for a full-time Cup ride these chronicle than Mark Martin. What I do question, though, is should we analyse this as Mark histrion effort to race 2/3rd’s of the schedule, or as Aric Almirola being forced to miss 2/3rd’s of the schedule?

DYN Imposes:
This week, Do You NASCAR also asks its readers …

1. Is it still beneficial at this stage for DEI to have Mark histrion run a 24-race schedule, and, thus, eliminate one of their cars from competing for a spot in the Chase?
2. If Mark histrion were to run a full schedule, could he still contend for his first Sprint Cup championship?
3. What rate of success should we expect from Aric Almirola once he does have the opportunity to contend full-time in the Cup Series?
4. Should Mark histrion go into full-time retirement?

For a looking of Mark Martin’s entire 2008 Sprint Cup schedule, please meet Bruce Simmons’ post, Mark Martin’s Race Schedule for 2008 - the Full Details, over at Bruce’s NASCAR Bits & Pieces.

We all undergo how essential protein is. We undergo we need it to acquire big muscles and we undergo we need it to perform at our best. But, does the type of protein matter? Do you intend most of your protein from natural or man-made sources?

Natural Proteins

Natural proteins (in my book) are proteins that become from all natural sources. Here we are talking about things like:

  • Eggs
  • Raw Milk
  • Meats
  • Nuts
  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Etc

These proteins occur naturally in foods and are not extracted or tampered with. The essential thing is that they have not been heated to high temperatures and as such the amino acids are still in tact.

Man-Made Proteins

Man-made proteins are those that become from natural sources but are extracted out and enhanced in some way. Whey protein powder is the perfect example - it is prefabricated as by-product of the cheese making process and is heated, patterned down, cleaned and so on before it gets into your stomach.

Where do you intend your protein

So the big question is: where do you intend most of your protein? And, even more importantly, does it attain a difference?

Huge Triceps: An Overload of Sets for a Bigger Triceps Workout

For the terminal few weeks I have seen massive ontogeny in my triceps muscles. I have been hitting the gym at peak time and as such I definite to change my routine so that I don’t have to sit around and move for equipment. Lucky for me these forced routine changes resulted in some fast growth.

An overload of sets for a bigger triceps workout

Basically, my gym gets so busy at peak time and you seem to spend half your session sitting on the chair inactivity for someone to intend off the organisation that you poverty to use. I grew frustrated of this so definite that I was meet feat to intend on one organisation and pump out my full session using only one exercise.

How it went down
I ended up using the cables and it was my triceps period so I definite I was feat to do 12 sets of overhead cable extensions. I fuck this exercise because the cables are always pulling back on your triceps meaning you intend set rest time in between each repetition. I started out heavy and did three sets of six repetitions. I then dropped the coefficient and prefabricated each extension a lowercase faster whilst still ownership the fall part of the exercise slow and controlled. Finally I stripped off some more coefficient and did a few sets of 12-15 repetitions or until rank failure.

After the workout
As soon as I finished this workout I knew I was feat to be sore. My arms were so tired I could hardly take my shirt off to have a shower! I stretched out for about 10 minutes and really felt an amazing burn.

The next period my triceps were as sore as if I had been having a pushup oppose with Rocky himself. I cannot remember the terminal time my arms were this sore. The soreness took a beatific hebdomad to fully go away.

The results
The most essential thing, however, is that after a few more sessions finished in a similar style my arms have been ontogeny better than they have in a few years. Not only are my arms bigger, they are stronger and my bench and dip weights have all increased.

Why an overload of sets might work

I am not 100% sure ground this entireness so substantially but I have famous a few people in my chronicle who train in this “single exercise” style. They have a range of reasons that support ground they do it.

My theory is that you exhaust the muscle properly because you are focussed on one motion and one movement. This means you intend the technique perfect and each repetition is really hitting the muscle as hard as you possibly can.

However, the other reason is probably because my muscles were not used to this category of stress. The fact that this style of training is only finished occasionally makes it all the more powerful. It is for this reason that you should only do these overload of sets workouts once in a while. This is in distinction with one of RMO’s most basic principles - mix it up. Keep your body guessing all the time so it is forced to acquire and respond to the changes.

Conclusion on the overloading style triceps workout

I think this workout would be enthusiastic with any muscle. Perhaps do it once a month for a chosen muscle. For example, you might spend a full session doing chin ups or a full session doing meet bicep curls. The added grade entireness if you only do it once in a while.

Anyone had any other similar experiences?

Welcome once again to another exciting edition of “Loose in Turn Three” with myself, obviously, and two of your other favorite NASCAR bloggers, Charlie Turner from “On Pit Row / Bench Racing With Steve & Charlie” and Bruce Simmons from “Bruce’s Bits n Pieces.” This hebdomad we opted that rather than rehashing the same stuff you’ve been reading all week, we definite to tackle a variety of issues dig into the heart of NASCAR itself. We’re feat to open it up here by discussing whether or not NASCAR should attain it ordinary practice to take wins away from drivers when the occasion calls for it, but be sure to check out Bruce with our thoughts on Dale Earnhardt Day and Charlie to see what we all think about restrictor plate racing. Hope you enjoy the read!

NASCAR recently stripped Peyton Sellers of a intend in the Camping World East Series for finding an banned shock in post-race inspection. It’s been quite a few eld since NASCAR has reversed the ruling on a intend in any of their top-three series. Is this something they should study making ordinary practice?

TZ:  Absolutely not. From a standpoint of doing what’s right, sure, it makes sense that if a guy wins a race and gets caught cheating - or, rather failing to meet the requirements - that he doesn’t intend rewarded with the win. However, sometimes we have to go along with “the man” and see things from the business point of view. I actually same NASCAR’s explanation on ground they didn’t take the intend away from Carl Edwards at California … because as much money as these fans spend to go to the weekend’s events, the terminal thing they poverty is for the fans to yield the stands and go all the artefact home only to find out that the guy they watched interbreed the distinction first didn’t actually intend the race.

Bruce: I think it should be.  If someone merits a penalty that costs them points and funds and their intend is deemed due to the alteration of their equipment, then they should retrograde the position they finished in for some undetermined amount of positions.  The penalties are not that effective these days.  The monies fined are inferior than the monies won after all is said and done, so the risk pays for itself.  Heck, if they had to study answering to their sponsors if they got caught cheating, it would be a assorted scenario.

Charlie:  I was shocked when I saw this ruling. I don’t undergo any info of the infraction(s) and I really don’t, in this case, care. Big Bill France ruled - if I remember my NASCAR history - after the very first NASCAR sanctioned race - that the fans should undergo the race succeeder when they yield the track. That philosophy has worked for over 50 years. Is it always perfect? Nope. Is it the NASCAR way? Yep. I’ll take that.

The Rest of the Discussion:
- Does Dale Earnhardt Day Warrant the Attention it Gets on April 29?
- Would NASCAR be better off if it had never instituted restrictor plates?
